The first time I ever packed for a digital nomad trip, I didn’t know how long I would be gone. I assumed that I basically needed to take my life with me.

Contrary to the opinions of some, I actually think that “taking your life with you” is a valid travel style. Some people leave home for years, and they have certain needs that require a couple of full suitcases to fulfill.

I’ve compiled this digital nomad packing list with the knowledge that everyone is different, and so is every destination. I cover:

  • Essential Gear
  • Internet and Communication
  • Work Supplies
  • Clothing and Accessories (for different climates)
  • Toiletries
  • Other Travel Supplies

The goal of this list is for you to take as little as possible, based on your constraints. However, I acknowledge that there are major benefits to taking a big suitcase that many people in the nomad community overlook. Therefore, I segmented the list to show the essentials that even “one bag” types can’t avoid at the top, and I put the things that people with more space in their bags might want at the bottom.

Of course, you’ll likely have your own personal items that you need to add to each list. This packing list is meant to get you thinking. Thinking about questions like:

  • How often do you want to spend time washing your clothing?
  • How many outfits do I need?
  • How strongly will I rely on my internet connection?
  • And much more
